The idea behind the awards is to encourage more children to join their local cricket club, to better prepare pupils for competing in local schools Kwik Cricket tournaments and for hard ball cricket at secondary school.
Over the last three years we have found that many pupils struggle with hardball cricket at club and secondary school due to having not learned sufficient basics of batting, bowling and fielding during their primary school years and these awards look to redress this balance.
At each age group from year 3 to 6, pupils will be awarded a Batting, Bowling, Fielding & Cricket Awareness certificate based on their ability to meet our minimum standard requirements for their age group which have been designed based on year 5 & 6 Kwik Cricket tournaments. Our weekly coaching sessions will be based around these requirements.
There will also be special awards such as the “Club Cricket Award” for those children demonstrating that they have joined their local cricket club. We actively support all local cricket clubs and encourage as many children as possible to join their local club. We hope that this award will act as an extra incentive for them to do so.
Most pupils are likely to need on average around 20-30 hours coaching per year to achieve all four awards at each age group. This can be achieved through a before or after school club, a lunchtime club or through coaching during curriculum time.
We are now taking bookings for the current term and beyond. You can either book now for the whole year or be added to the waiting list for subsequent terms.
